How can individual suitability to the treatment be determined?

Even thought Xlase Technology is capable of treating any colour of hair or any skin type, at consultation, the skin specialist will evaluate the treatment suitability according to the individual needs.

How does Xlase remove hair?

Depending on the location, skin and hair type your skin specialist will evaluate the most appropriate procedure. The laser beam or flashes of light are selectively absorbed by hair follicles lying below the surface of the skin. The absorbed energy heats the hair, which damages or disable the follicle without affecting the surrounding tissue.

Which other skin conditions can Xlase successfully treate?

Beside hair removal on all skin types, Xlase offers a complete range of specialist aesthetic procedures: vascular and pigmented lesions, acne and skin rejuvenation. Tailored-made treatments allow excellent results on redness of skin and flushing of the face, neck and chest. In addition, treatment improves the visible signs of skin aging, acne and rosacea by reducing fine wrinkles, enlarged pores, open capillaries and irregular pigmentation.

What happens during a treatment?

It’s begins by trimming the hair above the skin. You will be asked to wear specific glasses to protect the ice from light or laser emission. Next, the skin is cleansed and a thin layer of transparent protective gel is applied. The Xlase hand-piece is placed on skin and according to the procedure chosen, pulses of light or the laser beam is emitted. When the gel is removed, most of the hair is wiped off with it. The remaining hair in the treated area fall out over the next week or two.

What does the treatment feel like?

Each pulse feel like a slight sting or pinch, similar to the snap of a rubber band. Most people find the treatment comfortable, also due to the skin cooling technology which protects the skin surface from overheating.

Are there any possible side effects?

Side effects are rare. Some slight reddening or local swelling may be experienced at the treatment site, but this typically goes away within a few hours. On rare occasions, some blistering may occur, but usually resolve quickly. Also, the skin can became darker or lighter following the treatment, but will generally return to normal within few weeks. Limiting sun exposure before and after each treatment will minimize the risk of complications. Following the treatment you can return to work and resume all regular activities immediately.

What kind of result should be expected and how many treatment may be needed?

Xlase has been medically proven to create a permanent reduction of hair follicle after each treatment and to improve skin appearance and texture in most skin conditions. The number of treatment required depends on individuals. A customized treatment program will be designed for you along with estimate of how many treatment you may need in order to meet your expectations. On average you should expect to be treated least 8-10 times before full cleaning occurs.
